Amen!

This was an email that was sent to me by my mother. I agree with everything it states and wanted to share it with everyone. I was driving to work this morning and listening to a piece of tape from the Ellen Show the other day. She was talking about an 8 year old boy who killed a fellow student because he was gay and asked this kid to be his valentine. The kid somehow got in his mind that this boy should be killed. Ellen was asking the world to change how we talk about and view things like being gay or black so that this doesn't happen again. My question is not who taught this boy that being gay is bad, but who taught him that killing someone is ok? The answer has to start with his parents!

Dear Concerned Student:I am not allowed in schools.

How did this get started?...
Let's see, I think it started when Madeline Murray O'Hare complained She didn't want any prayer in our schools. And we said, OK...

Then, Someone said you better not read the Bible in school, The Bible that says "Thou shalt! Not kill, Thou shalt not steal, And love your neighbors as yourself," And we said, OK...

Dr. Benjamin Spock said We shouldn't spank our children when they misbehaved because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem. And we said, An expert should know what he's talking about. So we won't spank them anymore...

Then someone said Teachers and principals better not Discipline our children when they misbehave. And the school administrators said No faculty member in this school Better touch a student when they misbehave Because we don't want any bad publicity, And we surely don't want to be sued. And we accepted their Reasoning...

And the entertainment industry said, let's make TV shows and movies that promote Profanity, violence and illicit sex... And let's record music that encourages Rape, drugs, murder, suicide, and satanic themes... And we said, it's just entertainment And it has no adverse effect and nobody takes it seriously anyway, So go right ahead.

Now we're asking ourselves Why our children have no conscience, Why they don't know right from wrong, And why it doesn't bother them to Kill strangers, classmates or even themselves.

Undoubtedly, if we thought about it long and hard enough, We could figure it out. I'm sure it has a great deal to do with...

Crazy? Maybe!

So I had a thought today, well it actually came from several thoughts over the past month. As the thought of a child has come into our lives I have been thinking about the future. I had a week off work to take care of Chris after his surgery and did not want to go back to work. I had loved my week of being at home. I would love to stay at home when we have children, but financially I can't do that. So I have been thinking of jobs that would allow me to stay at home or create my own schedule. I was reading April's blog about photography and a light went off in my head. I have always loved to take photos but have never cared enough to make it more than a hobby. So now I am contemplating taking a few courses and a few business classes and maybe some day opening my own photo studio. Am I crazy, would it be worth it? I don't even know how to start a business and I'm sure that we would have to get tons of loans. But it's now a serious thought in my head. We will have to see how far this thought will go...

Can't Come Soon Enough

Spring can not come soon enough! We can not wait to go camping and enjoy the outdoors, hike, bike, run, walk, 4-wheel, grill, make a fire and roast marshmallows. Also, since the weather has been getting warmer, the snow has been melting. This has caused all of the dirt in our yard to turn into mud. Well the dogs love mud. They love to run in it and play in it and since Harley has long hair, the mud loves to stick to him. This causes some issues when they want to come into my house. I have brand new (since September) carpet and would like to keep it clean. So we have to let the dogs into the garage for 1/2 a hour to let the mud dry and then they can come in. Now to my point...I can not wait until the Spring when all of the snow has melted and we can put a yard in. Once we have grass, no more mud and no more mud means clean carpet! Come Spring, Come!!!

6 Interesting Facts

Melanie Tagged me Back, so here it goes.

1. I love to clean, but I hate to mop the kitchen floor and I hate to clean the showers. I usually let those chores go a little bit longer than I should before I clean them.

2. I hate to file my nails. I hate the sound and I hate the feeling so I don't do it very often. And while we are on nails...I can not paint my finger nails. It drives me nuts.

3. I let my clothes pile up on the floor on my side of the bed all throughout the week and clean them up during the weekend. Chris hates it because there is always a huge pile of clothes on my side. But I hate folding them and hanging them during the week.

4. I read magazines backwards. Chris noticed this and made me aware of it. I don't know why, it's just the way that I read them.

5. My closet is organized by color and style of clothing. It starts on the left with my sweatshirts, then my whites to my darks, then my pants and then my dresses. It makes it nice and easy for me to find everything.

6. Last but not least...I have never broken a bone, spranged anything, had stitches or been to the hospital for me. I am predicting that the first time I go to the hospital for myself will be when I give birth to our child someday.

Now I tag Kelly Neff and Tracy Layne!

It Finally Hit Him

The pain finally hit Chris, we knew that it would come but didn't want it to. 3 days ago it came and has not left. He was able to walk and put pressure on his knee and now he can't. I feel bad for him and want to take the pain away, but obviously I can't. He will kill me for this but....he almost cried last night because it hurt so bad. He said that it felt like something was digging into his bone and I reminded him that 3 screws were! We're in for a long recovery!

Tag!

As I have been looking at blogs, I have noticed a game of tag going on. Once you are tagged, you get to list 6 interesting facts or habits about yourself and then you tag someone else. I am starting this with some of my friends to see what interesting facts I can find out about you. Humor me and do it! Maybe it will get back to me and I will have to do it. I am new to this blog thing and am not quite sure how to start this, so I am posting it here and when the person reads my blog, hopefully she will see this. So Mel I tag you!

Chris' Knee Surgery

Chris has had bad knees for about 10 years now. He has had several surgeries to try and fix them, but nothing has worked. After consulting with one of the doctors that I work for, they decided to try a knee alignment surgery. This surgery consists of cutting the knee open, cutting of a piece of his knee bone, moving it to reposition it, screwing it back in with 3 screws and sewing him up. He did the surgery last Thursday and it went great! He has not had a lot of pain and has being doing great. He had his first physical therapy appointment today and it went well. Here are some pics, enjoy!

We Caved!

Every single one of our friends are bloggers and we didn't want to be left out, so we are now bloggers (well at least Amber is, Chris will probably never look at this). I have been thinking about blogging for a while, but didn't think that we were interesting enough to read about so I was going to wait until we started our family. But I caved and am doing it now. I hope that you enjoy reading about our lives!
